The Virtus is powered by a locally produced 1.0T three-cylinder engine (115 HP) as its main offering, while the Performance Line trim features a 150 HP 1.5T four-cylinder engine.

Dimensions:
At 4,561mm (L) x 1,740mm (W) x 1,494mm (H) with a 2,651mm wheelbase, the sedan is larger than the Polo but smaller than the current Lavida (117mm shorter in length, 37mm shorter in wheelbase). Its size sits between the Lavida and Santana, offering average cabin space. The trunk expansion is limited by a one-piece folding rear seat (vs. split-folding), and comfort is slightly compromised by the rear torsion beam suspension.

Safety:
Despite using the entry-level MQB A0 platform, both Brazilian and Indian variants earned 5-star safety ratings in local crash tests.

In South Africa, the model is marketed as the Polo Sedan. Volkswagen introduced this three-sedan variant to revive Polo's declining market share, leveraging familiar branding. While praised for durable powertrains and safety, its tech features and performance lag behind similarly priced Chinese competitors.
